Vegetarian food is my passion
Vegetarian food is my passion. I have been a vegetarian for over 17 years now and I haven't hardly put on any weight. I am a male - just under 40 years old, and I weigh 160lbs. When I graduated college, I was 165lbs+ but I was lifting weights and riding the bike a lot more. I've since lost a little bit of that old muscle, but I never added any fat.
When possible, I seek out organic ingredients. Chemically fertilized produce has a slight chemical taste - maybe it's just me, but I swear that I know when I am eating an ear of corn that was chemically fertilized. Fields that are fertilized with chemical fertilizers have a drastic effect on the top soil and the rivers. Organic produce has a much better flavor than the chemically fertilized equivalents -- especially lettuces and fruit. The best thing about eating organic food has to be knowing that you are not consuming anything that was exposed to pesticides. It isn't ironic that the act of eating healthy food is actually healthy for the environment.
I've spent some time working as a line chef, prep cook and sous chef. I have been baking my own bread and cakes from scratch for the last few years. It is so comforting to know that there isn't a huge list of chemicals going into my food.
The focus of my blog will focus on being a vegetarian - and I will add recipes and pictures for my favorite vegetarian food. It is a pretty good diet - and I want to show everybody just how easy it is to make a delicious meal. Most of my recipes are vegan too, but I still eat eggs (free range - organic only) and some dairy products. Pizza just isn't the same to me with the veggie-cheese options that I've tried.
Anyway, I look forward to sharing some of my recipes with everybody. If I post one recipe per week, I will be happy -- I am only going to post when I have the time, resources (digital camera) and the determining factor has to be that the food tastes great and is healthy.
